Hi, I'm Catherine!

I've always been horsey as a kid and not having the funds or commitment to have my own pony, I started to collect china horses. In 1991 I joined Model Horses Unlimited and started to take my model horse collecting a little more seriously. Around that time Westwood Memorial Stables was born as a name for my growing collection. Some of my friends have asked -"why collect model horses?". Well, I've loved horses since I was little and not having the resources or inclination to have a real horse of my own I decided that collecting model horses the way forward. After all model horses don't need feeding or mucking out or have vet's bills to pay...

As WMS I've held postal, photo and Live shows for model horses, and do try to help out my club "Model Horses Unlimited" and the British Equine Collectors Forum (BECF) and other hobbiests both here un the UK and abroad. A few years ago I started to produce photo backgrounds (backdrops) hoping to raise the standard of show photos here in the UK. I hope I have given inspiration. :)

I do have other hobbies and interests besides model horses. :)

In 1995 I was introduced to Live-action Roleplaying (LRP/LARP) and was NPC Staff for the Lorien Trust. It's hard work making sure people are happy and they don't even know about all the paperwork that happens bhind the scenes. :) I kept two other websites dedicated to my LRP hobby. :)

I also love Egyptian Dancing (otherwise known as belly dancing) and this interest started when I went to the Redemption (Blake's 7 and Babylon 5) Convention in 1999. I performed a Wings of Isis dance at the Redemption Convention in 2007. :)

I'm also an old member of The Scarlet Moon organisation based here in the UK. Sadly the original website with all the interesting articles seems to have gone. :( I also helped with a related article in "Spirit and Destiny" magazine back in 2002.

Other stuff:

I currently live in South Wales, near Caerphilly. I love chocolate. Actually I love food. :) I'm allergic to cheese and ibroprufen. I like horror movies and gothic stuff, though I would never call myself a goth. I'm mostly set in my ways regarding my reading material, though Terry Pratchett and Anne Rice feature. I own more non-fiction books than fiction. I love history (mostly Tudor/Elizabethian but I like other periods too). When pressed, I'll admit to being Pagan but don't ask for more unless you want the whole can of worms. :) My day-job is poorly paid and unstimulating and I wish I had the guts to find a better use of my time and leave. I'd love to write a book that gets published. I'd like to ride again. I'd love to try hang-gliding. I wish I had enough money to get my PPL. My music tastes are ecclectic, from rock to pop to folk to hardcore, I even like traditional egyptian music (that's belly dancing for you!). I prefer music with a good beat though as I'm going deaf. I love comedy, thanks to my Dad and Monty Python. :)
